EQUIDEM: Equality, Quality Institutions and Democratic Engagement through Mechanism Design
A Horizon Europe project that builds the University of Cyprus's research on inequality and democratic participation, with LSE, Ca' Foscari University of Venice and Ethos Lab.
The problem
EQUIDEM advances the political economy of inequality and democratic participation, where formal theory, experimental methods and evidence-based policy design meet. It aims to make the University of Cyprus, through its Department of Economics, a recognised centre of excellence on these questions within the European Research Area.
What Ethos Lab did
Ethos Lab links the research with policy, bringing its behavioural insights and evidence-to-policy expertise to the partnership.
Outputs and findings
- New research that tests mechanism design theory with rigorous experiments
- The EQUIDEM Lab: the University of Cyprus's LExEcon lab, turned into an internationally networked lab
- Professional research management, upgraded methods and infrastructure, and two-way mobility between the partners
