George Melios

Chief Executive Officer / Co-Founder

George is EthosLab's Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. In addition to leading the firm's work with European institutions and government clients, George has a strong research focus on causal inference, political economy, and the behavioural science. He leads EthosLab's work on econometric program evaluation, experimental design, and evidence-based policy interventions. George is concurrently a researcher at the London School of Economics.

George's research has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Politics, Political Science Research & Methods, and Public Choice, and his work has been featured in Nature and The Economist. He has secured over 1,5 M Euros in competitive research grants from Horizon Europe, the Leverhulme Trust, and the British Academy. His applied policy work includes co-designing the London Longitudinal Study—a 10-year examination of household prosperity across East London—and developing policy interventions for the governments across Europe and MENA .

Prior to founding EthosLab, George worked at UCL's Institute for Global Prosperity and spent four years as a consultant at Grant Thornton Greece, where he advised clients on economic policy and infrastructure projects. He began his career at the Press Office of Greece's Permanent Delegation to the European Union in Brussels.

George holds a PhD in Economics from Swansea University, an MSc in Financial Economics from Cardiff University, and a BSc in Economic and Regional Development from Panteion University. He has held visiting positions at Harvard University, Yale University, and University College London, and has lived and worked in the UK, Greece, Belgium, and the United States.
